Frequently asked questions

What services do you offer?

Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation

Your mental health journey begins with a thoughtful, in-depth evaluation. This 60 minute appointment includes a review of your mental health history, current symptoms, lifestyle factors, and treatment goals.

Medication Management

Medication management appointments are collaborative, supportive, and focused on helping you feel more like yourself. I'll work with you to monitor effectiveness, make adjustments as needed, and ensure your treatment aligns with your values and goals.

Genetic Testing

Pharmacogenomics (PGx) is the science of how your genes affect your response to medications. In mental health, it can help identify how your body may metabolize different psychiatric medications including antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and medications used for anxiety or ADHD. I offer genetic testing as an optional tool to support personalized medication decisions, especially if you’ve experienced side effects or haven’t found the right fit yet.

What is the difference between a psychiatric nurse practitioner and a psychiatrist?

Psychiatric nurse practitioners and psychiatrists are both licensed to diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe medication, and provide psychiatric care. The primary difference lies in training: psychiatrists are medical doctors (MDs), while PMHNPs are advanced practice nurses with specialized training in psychiatric care. Both provide high-quality mental health services.

How do virtual appointments work?

All appointments are conducted via a secure, HIPAA compliant telehealth platform. You will receive a private video link prior to your scheduled session.

do you accept health insurance?

Yes, I am in network with most major commercial insurances. For those who do not have health insurance, a self pay rate is offered.

can I still see my therapist while working with you?

Absolutely. In fact, I encourage it. Medication management and therapy often work best together. You don't have to chose one or the other, many clients benefit from having both forms of support.

do you treat children or adolescents?

No, I only treat adults 18 years +

how do i know if medication is right for me?

That's exactly what we'll explore together during your initial evaluation. Deciding whether to use medication is a personal choice and depends on many factors. My role is to help you understand your diagnosis, provide education about available treatment options (medication and non-medication), answer your questions and talk through your concerns, support you in making the decision that feels right to you. If medication could be helpful, I'll explain why and offer a clear evidence-based recommendation but the choice is always yours.
